Communications Officer

The Brunswick Police Communications Department provides emergency and non-emergency dispatch services for law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services for the towns of Brunswick and Freeport, Maine.

The Department is seeking highly motivated individuals with the:

  • Strong ability to multitask
  • Capabilities to deal effectively with a diverse population in emergency situations
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of professional communication skills
  • Ability to disseminate information accurately and without delay
  • Capability to maintain composure during extremely demanding and stressful situations
  • High attention to detail

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proficiency with computers

Communications officers must become certified to provide lifesaving emergency medical and fire protocol instructions over the phone. They will dispatch appropriate responders to incident locations and work closely with other neighboring agencies to share resources and information.
